Thursday 28 May
19.00 – 21.30
The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts
Let’s be honest, how many of us can define clearly and simply what ‘dramaturgy’ actually means? Who is the dramaturg? Are they creator, collaborator, critic, or something in between? And what do we even mean when referring to a ‘dramaturgical process’?
For our next workshop, Keep Calm and Trust the Dramaturg?, we’ll be examining the role of this oft-mentioned but rather difficult-to-define practice. We will explore the ways in which playwrights, directors and theatre makers engage critically with one another’s work, and – of course – there will be a range of related practical activities & exercises to boot!
Keep Calm and Trust the Dramaturg? will take place from 19.00 – 21.30 on Thursday 28th May at The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts (a short, 10-minute walk from Wood Green tube-station on the Piccadilly Line).
We also want to offer fellow-Clapperers the opportunity to hear their work read aloud at the workshop. If you have something you want to roadtest with actors, get some feedback on or just hear spoken aloud for the first time, then email us a 5-page extract by 17.00 on Monday 25th May.
These workshops are free, so if you wish to attend, please get in touch via email at: clapperstheatre@gmail.com and include ‘Dramaturgy – Clappers Workshop’ in the title.
We look forward to see you there!
